Advent Week 4: Never-Ending Love

By Erica Esterly

Now we are on the fourth week, the last, of Advent. This week focuses in on the topic of love, and how God shows his love to us. Here are a few verses to read before I start talking about the incredible ways God loves us.

John 3:16

For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.

Ezekiel 34:15-16

I will feed My flock, and I will make them lie down,” says the Lord God. 16 “I will seek what was lost and bring back what was driven away, bind up the broken and strengthen what was sick; but I will destroy the fat and the strong, and feed them in judgment.”

God gave up His only son to have Him come down to this sinful world and to be tortured and hated by the ones He came to save, then die for us. What an incredible love that God must have for us! We are so sinful that our good deeds are like dirty rags in God’s eyes, yet He still loves us! Amidst all our sin, He, the perfect One, loves us no matter what. We can love only because He first loved us.
